Pennsylvania

We met at the McDonald’s in New Cumberland at 8:30 am, and caravanned onto the PA Turnpike, headed west. Our first stop was a tour of the Flight 93 Memorial in Stoystown, PA.  If you have not visited this site, it should be a “must see” on your list.  Although, of course, somewhat sad, it is a beautiful monument to these 9/11 heroes, and very informative.

On our way to Bedford, we stopped for lunch at Jean Bonnet Tavern, a beautiful tavern built in 1762.

After lunch, we headed for the historic downtown Bedford.  It is considered one of the top ten main     streets in the Nation!  There was something for everyone - antiquing, unique specialty shops and boutiques, museums, art galleries, wine and chocolate shops, and so much more.   We enjoyed all of the shops, and after approximately two hours of exploration, we met at the pub at the Golden Eagle Inn, to enjoy the local craft brews and pub fare before heading home.  A wonderful day was had by all!  Thanks to Donna Copenheaver for planning this eventful day.
